From about 9:40 am the tender will pick you up at the marina dock, at the AWANA PORTO MALAI RESORT "Fun & Adventure Center", & ferry you out to the catamaran Rampant, moored in the basin.
Once all the guests are on board the mooring lines are dropped (approximately 10 am ) & the trip begins with a short orientation speech by the crew. This covers basic safety facts & features on the boat, how the "Head" (Toilet) works & then what the itinerary of the day is.
The main sail is then raised & the genoa unfurled. We shut down the engines and start with sailing (if there is enough wind) to the southern islands of Langkawi. Heading in a "South Easterly" direction we pass the cruise ship terminal & sail across the main channel between Langkawi & Pulau Dayang Bunting. To starboard, midway across the channel you can see the island of Singa Besar. As we approach the lee of the island of Pulau Dayang Bunting, the sails are furled & the "Stern Net" is lowered into the water for the "Saltwater Jacuzzi".
Sit in the net, cool down & enjoy the exceptional beauty of your surroundings, with a cold beverage in hand. We do a slow weave through this scenic terrain passing the famous "Pregnant Maiden Lake" & into what is commonly termed the "fiords". Majestic scenery & gliding eagles make for some great photo shots.
Exiting the "fiord" we approach Pulau Gubang Laut island, which is our first stop. This secluded cove is a 270 degree surrounded anchorage, giving a calm & protected location to have lunch on board. Whilst lunch is being set up, take a scenic boat ride in our tender. You will discover wild orchids & plants growing on sheer rock cliffs rising vertically out of the water. See how the water has eroded the lower parts of the rock at the waters edge, creating hollows & caves , accentuated by Stalactites. Whilst one group is doing the tour, the other guests can enjoy a refreshing swim, or a short kayak around the cove,or just laze in the hammocks under the bow trampolines.
The all inclusive lunch is served in the cockpit & consists of an 11 dish buffet, favoring local flavors such as BBQ chicken, BBQ shrimp & chicken satays, sea food, beef, chicken, salads, vegetables & rice. White wine is served with lunch.
After lunch we set off to "Singa Besar" island which has a lovely beach. Here you can see monkeys on the beach, hornbills and eagles in the trees. Occasionally wild deer and wild pigs. For the adventurous ones, there is a short jungle trek up to a fresh water pond. For the not so daring there is the lovely beach with it's warm and clean water.
Then it's back to the boat for a leisure sail back to the Awana Resort where you boarded the boat 6.5 hours ago. During this sail a fruit platter is served.
The all inclusive "Free Flow Bar", has the largest cooler box you have ever seen, full of assorted beverages. There is something for everyone & its COLD....
